Career-spanning collection of tracks.

I “met” Lucette back in 2007 when she only had a few CDs of music out. She sent them to me, and upon receipt I noticed the beautiful artwork included with the package. I put the CDs on, and was swept away immediately by the vastness of the music and the beautiful composition. Very shortly thereafter I asked Lucette to be a part of the Dark Duck Records family. Throughout the years, her music has never ceased to impress me and the vastness of her creativity amazed me. No matter what she did, she seemed to excel at it, whether it was ambient, new age, drone, or even music with beats. She accomplished each task with such skill it was hard to believe she had not been doing this her entire life. Then add to that her amazing talent as a painter. Every one of her releases on Dark Duck Records has featured her artwork, painted by her own hand and self-selected for each release. I tried to get out of her way as much as possible when it came to releasing her music. I knew there was nothing I could do to add to her brilliance.

I am honored to have had the opportunity to release her music through Dark Duck Records. The most difficult part of putting together this retrospective collection was selecting the best material. Personally I think the best Lucette Bourdin collection out there is her entire catalog. It’s hard to pull out single tracks. Perhaps my favorite track of hers is “Flight Through Infinite Stars.” There is so much emotion in that piece that I cannot help but be overwhelmed by it. For this release I attempted to pull at least 1 track from each release while at the same time making this release as cohesive as possible. I’m sorry I had to edit a few of the tracks down just a bit to get as many tracks as possible on the CD and cover all the releases. If you are unfamiliar with the work of Lucette Bourdin, I encourage you to dig deeper into her catalog. You will not be disappointed.
